History of the Krings Lift Company in Obertauern
In 1957 the three brothers Theodor, Gerhard and Manfred Krings founded a silent partnership and constructed their first small drag lift at Grünwaldsee in Obertauern. Such humble beginnings and the lack of financial means demanded high personal commitment. Due to their vision and an appetite for risk the "Krings Brothers' Lift Company" enjoyed a remarkable rise.
After the drag lift in 1957 the following lifts were built:
1969: the first KA-drag lift
1973: the panorama curve drag lift
1977: the second KA-drag lift
Over the years during the course of modernisation all drag lifts were replaced by chairlifts.
Thus increasing guest comfort considerably.
Further investments followed:
1985: fixed snow-making equipment
1991: the KSB Seekarspitz chairlift
The pistes have been constantly extended and improved and are available to snow-hungry wintersports enthusiasts in winter and grazing cattle in summer. The ski lifts are the core business of the "Krings Brothers' Lift Compay“. In addition they own four restaurants and accommodation properties, plus a disused farm in Untertauern (the three brothers original home).
